5 Types of Mats used for Flooring Manufacturing Spaces

A manufacturing business is much more about just manufacturing the products rightly! In fact, a proper manufacture is only a small part of the entire business. While getting the appropriate raw materials and ensuring effectiveness at production plant is what “manufacturing” revolves around, when we talk about “business”- there is so much more to be considered!

Today, we live in a fiercely competitive era and everyone from manufacturers to shopkeepers face tough competition in executing their businesses. A manufacturers needs to focus upon the entire chain of business, until the product is consumed by the consumers. This is where the concept of a manufacturing space for lease comes in the picture! The existence of a business in fact is unimaginable without these manufacturing spaces. The products manufactured by the manufacturers could be too delicate and may require assured safety and security against the industrial wear and tear. Even if the products are not fragile, the significant time difference between their manufacture and delivery requires a place for them where they can be stored.

So storage and security are the prime reasons for the existence of the manufacturing spaces. Further, a manufacturing space for lease is an important component of the logistics chain because it serves as a central location. This accounts for the reason why the advertisements of warehouses and manufacturing spaces are often displayed as “logistics space for lease” where other activities of logistics are also allowed.

Be it an inbound delivery or transportation, a manufacturing space is the central point of contact for the products. Now transportation is a huge activity that is happening all around the manufacturing space. Manufacturing spaces have heavy equipment and large cans and cartons whose transportation requires a lot of work. The designing of the warehouses is done in such a way that the transportation process happens with utmost ease and efficiency.

From flooring to ceiling, special industrial parts are used to design a manufacturing and logistics space. Depending on the applications and needs, different manufacturing spaces deploy different types of mats. Here’s a list of some of the most common types of mats used in different manufacturing spaces.

• Footbath mats: Footbath mats are generally used in food processing plants to keep the areas free of contamination and germs. The contents of these mats are rubber scrapers which basically dislodge all the contaminants from the soles of the footwear. Due to this feature, they work like sanitizers in manufacturing spaces.

• Welding mats: Welding mats as the name suggests, are used in the industrial areas where a lot of welding activities happen. These mats have a thick surface plus a high melting point of about 500 degrees Fahrenheit and therefore, they provide high durability against sparks and hot metal shards- thereby protecting the floor as well as people working around.

• Sticky mats: The sticky mats are also deployed to control dust and dirt in the manufacturing spaces. But unlike the footbath mats which dislodge the contaminating particles, sticky mats pull and trap the dirt from the shoes and help in keeping the areas clean. The mud carried from outside can be eliminated using sticky mats.

• Anti-fatigue mats: Workers who work all day long in the manufacturing spaces to carry the products to different locations, require a base comfortable enough to keep them energized. Anti- fatigue mats are used exactly for this purpose. These mats are made of sponges and serve as relaxation tools beneath the feet of the workers.

• Drainage mats: Drainage mats are used for interlocking the drains in the manufacturing spaces to provide a clean environment. If a manufacturing activity leaves a floor wet and greasy, drainage mats are a must-have.

In order to ensure the cleanliness of a manufacturing space, the ease of goods’ transfer and the security of both people and products, these mats are deployed. A manufacturer looking for a logistics space for rent must consider flooring it with the appropriate mats.
